Livewire is inviting one teacher for a session on "hints" how to win for the competition for your students.

Memos will be sent out to schools from CDD to your principal to nominate one teacher to attend for the talk on Livewire Business Award 2009. The session will be split into two

* Monday 9th Feb 2009 (for non-government schools, KB secondary schools and Tutong secondary schools, Temburong, SOAS, SM Masin, Sek Sukan and those who missed out the briefing earlier )

NEW COMMERCE BOOK

Hi welcome back to school teachers!!! As you are well aware the basic Commerce Year7 should be in your school (government school).

The textbook is selling like hot cakes or 'pisang goreng' at bookshops. For your info, the publisher have printed 5000 copies for distribution. I heard from the local distributor, the book will be available by next week (between 13th - 17th Jan 09) again in the bookstore.

As for Commerce Yr8 book by Mr Kennith Chin, is a slight delay, we can't promise when the book will be supplied to government schools but i heard is out in the market by the 13th Jan 2009 at Booker International and Bismi Trading. So you can purchase personally first for your own copy.

For your information they will be two (2) publications for Year 8 Book. One of which is a continuation of Vikki's book by STAR publishing and one is by Mr Kennith Chin.

SPE/SBA Briefing Part Two

The second part of the SPE/SBA Briefing for Commercial Studies took place on the 29th of November 2008 at 2.30pm. Some teachers arrived as early as 1.30pm for the briefing anticipating an interesting afternoon.

After the registration, there was a recital of the Al-Fatihah. It was followed by the introduction of the authors of Year 7 and Year 8 Commercial Studies text-books.

After that, the highlight of the day was a short presentation of the working visits of some of the committee members to various schools in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Ireland on Entrepreneurship. In the presentation teachers gained useful ideas of how to organise and run Business related activities in their school. It was indeed an eye opener for the teachers who were present at the briefing. Not only students from the secondary level, but also the primary level who was able to participate fully and produce products for sale in their schools.

Shortly afterwards, the teachers took a short break and browse through some of the available textbooks, resource books, projects and activities on display.

The briefing continued with the authors sharing some information on the textbook then followed by a question and answer session.

The briefing adjourned at 4.30pm.

SPE/SPA Briefing Part One

The SPE/SPA briefing was held in the new MOE meeting yesterday on the 27th November 2008.  Some 80 teachers/education officers from both government and non-government schools were invited.

The lined up agenda for the day were as followed:
